A perfect gluing starts with a perfectly clean surface. Pick out the whole sole thoroughly — extra carefully in the frog grooves — and brush away all loose material with a stiff brush. Most important of all: the surface must be completely DRY. Moisture is glue worst enemy. If the horse has been standing in the wet, let the hoof dry or wipe it and wait until all moisture is gone.
