Always dry-fit first, without glue. Put the pad on the hoof and check the size is right: the cuffs should sit evenly against the hoof wall all around, without gaps and without straining. Centre the pad symmetrically around the hoof midline and check from the front and the side. Memorise or mark the position — during gluing it needs to go into exactly the same spot, immediately.
