Our journey
Horses have been at the heart of Equnique from the very beginning. As young as 8, I found myself drawn to the stables in Skokloster, Sweden, willingly taking on any task, just to be in the company of these incredible animals. By the age of 16, I welcomed my first horse into my life, marking the start of an incredible journey.
At Equnique, our passion for horses extends into every aspect of our work. We've dedicated our adult lives to living on horse farms and offering top-quality products to fellow enthusiasts. But our true mission, the cornerstone of our values, is ensuring the welfare of horses. This mission led us to a groundbreaking approach to hoof care – offering the best protection for barefoot horses.
This vision was born from a lifetime of experience. Despite years of fitting traditional iron shoes, we found ourselves this was not the best way for every individual. It became clear that we needed a better solution.
In 2019-2020, we initiated a partnership with Scoot Boot hoof boots from Australia to distribute their products in the Nordic region. By 2021, we had captured the attention of Swedish showjumper Peder Fredricson, leading to a fruitful collaboration aimed at providing hoof protection for his barefoot horses. This experience significantly expanded our knowledge, and soon we were receiving inquiries from showjumpers globally, all seeking our assistance in transitioning to barefoot hoof care. Engaging with leading farriers, professors, veterinarians, equine therapists, and other highly educated professionals, we found ourselves part of a collective with a singular, noble objective: to enhance the welfare of horses.
Inspired by the dedication of these professionals, I resolved to chase my own dream by launching a brand founded on the principles of Love, Care, and Protection. The year 2022 we started working on a specialized hoof clay with powerful antibacterial properties to combat thrush, a prevalent issue for horses. Together with experts, we developed a revolutionary formula consisting of a composition of 100% natural green clay, which is a non-fibrous clay with anti swelling properties due to its high purity and anti-inflammatory effect, as well as improving tissue healing and formation (tissue strengthening) and providing cooling relief for inflammations. The clay also increases cell regeneration, soothes and reduces edema (swelling reduction). Other active ingredients is: zinc sulfate, acacia honey (robinia pseudoacacia), and eucalyptus globulus oil all together to strengthen and heal the hoof. The clay not only fights bacteria effectively but also serves as a preventive measure against thrush, embodying our commitment to protecting horses hooves.
A year later, we were inspired to develop a lanolin-based cream after witnessing the remarkable results of using sheep wool to address various skin-related problems.
Like many other horse owners, we encountered challenges in treating skin related diseases on our sensitive, white-legged horses. Harnessing the nurturing properties of lanolin, we crafted a cream infused with the essence of love and care, providing nourishment, healing, and protection. Our extensive expertise and deep understanding of equine needs enabled us to develop a product that not only exceeds expectations but will also set a new standard in equine skincare.
