At EQUNIQUE, we are driven by a clear passion: to improve horse health and welfare with natural, supportive solutions\u2014both internally and externally. One of our key focus areas is Hoof Care<\/strong>, and recently we took a big (and very fun) step forward in the development of a new hoof product.<\/p>

We are incredibly grateful to have held a productive workshop together with Jenny from Friskah\u00e4sten<\/strong>, where we applied EQUNIQUE\u2019s new prototype Glue-On-Barefoot Pad<\/strong>.<\/p>

Why a glued barefoot pad?<\/h2>

Several horses are transisting to barefoot, and for many it works very well for most of the year. At the same time, there are periods where even a well-functioning barefoot hoof may need a little extra support<\/em>. Our prototype is designed to provide barefoot horses with more advanced support\u2014without compromising the hoof\u2019s natural function.<\/p>

The pad\u2019s three main functions are:<\/p>

  • Comfort <\/strong><\/li>\n\n
  • Protection <\/strong><\/li>\n\n
  • Grip <\/strong>\u2013 with the option to integrate ice studs<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>

    The goal is to create a solution that helps the horse move comfortably and confidently, whether the challenge is hard ground, sensitive soles, changing weather conditions, or slippery surfaces.<\/p>

    Focus on technical precision \u2013 application is crucial<\/h2>

    During the workshop, our focus was on technical precision in the application<\/strong>. For a glued pad to perform optimally, it must be placed correctly\u2014otherwise you risk losing effectiveness, durability, and comfort.<\/p>

    Positioning is absolutely critical for the pad to:<\/p>

    • support where it should support<\/li>\n\n
    • protect where it should protect<\/li>\n\n
    • and, above all, work in harmony with the hoof mechanism<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>

      We look forward to seeing how the pad functions in harmony with the hoof\u2019s natural expansion and contraction<\/strong>\u2014providing \u201cthat little extra\u201d when needed, without interfering with the hoof\u2019s movement pattern.<\/p>
